Antique German White Wagtail Print

‹Return to Previous Page
Description

Description

Page from an 1800s ornithology guide, perhaps the work of FJ Bertuch. Caption identifies the bird illustrated as the white wagtail in Latin, but the translated German reads “the bastard nightingale,” a name more commonly used in Europe for the bird known otherwise as Cetti’s warbler. Leave it up to the birders to decide! Framed in wood with glass. Some wear to frame.
