Inspirations: Tulip Chair
Lately we’ve been receiving so much seating in the store, from lounge chairs to stools to dining chairs. Sadly, because we sell only vintage and antique pieces, sometimes dining sets get broken up over time. But we’ve been seeing so many unique ways to utilize individual chairs since we’ve been using Pinterest. Usually we’re used to seeing these tulip-style chairs in a super modern dining setting, but because they’re so comfortable, they’re a perfect accent chair in a bedroom or living space. We love this photo from Apartment Therapy because it shows this classic mid century piece in a more traditional and feminine setting. We even think this chair would be fun extra seating in a child’s room!

Better Together: Antique Trunk + Shabby White Dresser
Like everyone’s grandma says: opposites attract. As a vintage furniture company, we know this also applies with furniture. So often we find ourselves talking with roommates or a couple with different tastes who are looking to furnish their home. So we’re putting together combinations of pieces that are unusual, but really work together. We love the feminine look of this shabby white dresser in contrast with a handsome antique trunk. We think it’s because both pieces are from the same era — the 1920s — not to mention the fact that they’re both totally functional.
Patinated Wood and Tin Trunk, $188
Shabby White Bachelorette Chest, $475
Product Spotlight: Baccellieri Bros. Wine Press
At Furnish Green, it’s pretty often that we find ourselves in possession of pieces that really take us back. This time, an antique wine press is really making a staff member’s heart sing. An Italian-American, she remembers a very similar piece in her grandfather’s basement, accompanied by barrels and a shelf holding dozens of jugs of wine. This wine press, manufactured by Baccellieri Bros. Manufacturing Co. in Pennsylvania, was made at least one hundred years ago. It appears to be a much older model than many others made by this company that we’ve come across online. It has all of its original parts, minus the wooden blocks used to exert controlled pressure on the grapes whose juice pours through a spout and into a wine barrel. It could be restored in order to safely produce wine, but it’s also just an amazing and historic decorative piece. The press could also be easily outfitted as a planter as well. All in all, this is a piece that we believe will bring back memories for a lot of people.

Serving Suggestions: An Artist’s Corner
The last few days, we’ve been noticing a theme in our showroom: we have so many pieces for artists! When we obtained this easel, we started looking around and there’s quite a bit here that would function well in a studio. The height of the medical stool above is a perfect compliment for the easel, and the apothecary cabinet can hold many supplies, whether for painting or mixed media. We have quite a few art storage pieces to do all your flat filing as well. Come on by and check them out, or browse the above pieces and more at www.furnishgreen.com.

Exciting News: Furnish Green and Girls!
We have some exciting news to share: Furnish Green has been working with HBO’s Girls! We provide pieces for the set design of a lot of productions around town, and Girls is definitely a favorite of ours. And we love nothing more than to see our furniture pop up on screen. That’s our white china cabinet in the Season 2 Finale below, which they’ve cleverly styled to display Shoshanna’s clothes and handbags. We couldn’t have done it better ourselves! We can’t wait to watch for our things next season, and of course a big thanks to Girls for shopping at Furnish Green!

Inspirations: Windsor Chair
Since we recently set up our Pinterest account, we’ve been so happy to see that our friends are following us and spreading our images around the web. And now that we’ve been pinning for a little while, it’s really been rewarding to see that some of the trends that pop up on our feed seem to coincide with furniture we have at our store! We’ve been seeing Windsor chairs everywhere, in traditional settings as well as modern ones like in the image we found above. We love to mix and match chairs too, and we think our chair would look fantastic at the head of a table with other mixed wooden chairs or even a complimentary set.
