Before & After: Shabby White Vanity
We really took a great deal of care with refinishing this beautiful 1930s vanity. Made of pearl walnut, it had a lot of surface flaws and the ornately carved, two-tone wood finish was a quite a bit for the modern eye to take in. So we refinished it in white with extreme attention to preserve all of its beautiful details. We kept the original hardware as well. We think that the etched, beveled mirror really pops with the new white finish. And that the new, more neutral look of this piece makes it a perfect fit in a more eclectic bedroom!

Product Spotlight: Grundig Majestic Hi-Fi Console
It’s no secret that we’re a bunch of stereo junkies here at Furnish Green. Recently we picked up this Grundig Majestic Hi-Fi console and we’re all in love. Grundig began making radio receivers in Germany after World War II, and by mid century they were making the Majestic line of stereo consoles. Made in the late 1950s to early 60s, our Grundig Hi-Fi system is in great working condition and has built-in speakers, turntable, and a mirrored storage compartment. Beautiful type on the receiver as well, and best of all, it sounds amazing! It also has a custom-cut piece of glass to preserve the surface, so you can place a television on top with no worries of scratching it. Come on into the store and you can give this piece a test ride!

Do It Yourself: Ice Cream Chair Cushions
We’re really getting inspired lately by customers who are doing unique things with our furniture! We love a good DIY project, and it looks like our customers love to DIY too. Recently we received these ice cream parlor chairs that are perfectly mismatched and just oozing with charm, but they have damaged seats (see below). We know they’d look great new upholstered seats, and they’re just waiting for someone crafty to come along and give them a home. See the video below for a clever way to make upholstered cushions using oilcloth, which would make these chairs suitable for both indoors and outdoors. We could see them outside on a patio, or indoors around a small cafe table. So come pick them up and visit the garment district nearby in Midtown to buy your fabric!

We also have a fourth chair with an intact seat, $74.
